A bit about me as a runner...
It would be fair to say I am not a particularly special runner. I have been running on and off for a decade or so with various levels of intensity. I am not a brilliant athlete, running has not been a constant part of my life and I was not a great runner in my youth who has rediscovered the love. I am like most runners out there.
I generally don't take my running too seriously but enjoy testing myself. I prefer to give myself a training goal, whether that be speed or distance, to focus my running. This helps motivate me (we all need the push to get out the door sometimes).
I have run races from 5k to 145 mile ultras, on road and trail, but I'm not particularly fast. I'm proud of my races, sure - but I'm not winning any awards!
I've done too many shorter races to list and I have no "sprint" speed at all! My 5k PB is about 19:30 with a 10k around 40 minutes I think?! My best distance is probably the Half Marathon where a PB of 1:25 is pretty respectable. Again, I've done more halfs than I care to remember. I´ve done a number of marathons including 4 of the majors - London (twice), New York, Berlin and Chicago. My marathon PB (at a rather hot London) was a disappointing 3:12 - one day I'll do sub-3!!!
